Critical thinking

Critical Thinking India History has it that people who have exhibited ability to differentiate fact from opinion, shun personal biases while problem solving, and take decisions objectively have been great leaders. Today these people are acknowledged to be critical thinkers as well. The success of an organization depends on the quality of the thinking and the decisions made by everyone for the business. Organizations that are able to attract, retain and develop the best critical thinkers have a significant and measurable competitive advantage in the business world. When more than 400 senior HR professionals were asked in an SHRM survey conducted in US, to name the most important skill their employees will need in the next five years, critical thinking ranked the highest – surpassing innovation or the application of information technology. Similar results were noticed in Pearson Talent Lens's  survey conducted in India. Such responses reflect that the business community tod...

Self control

The Truth About Wanting More Self-Control There are many situations in life where you’d like to exhibit high levels of self-control. When the dessert menu arrives to the table, for instance. Or when you’re handed that second drink at a party. Or when you’re asked if you want to go to shopping at the mall. You feel that internal tug-of-war, right? As it turns out, the more self-control you  want  to have, the harder it can be to actually master, according to a new study  published in the  Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. The research measured more than 600 participants’ ability to display self-control in tasks that either required a lot of it or very little. Researchers both measured and manipulated participants’ desire for self-control in various settings; they either determined the subjects’ raw desire by way of a scale, or touted the benefits of self-control prior to testing. Ultimately, they found that, in either condition, the men...

How to be perfect?

HOW TO BE PERFECT? If you’re looking for ways to be perfect – this post might not tell you what you want to hear. Constantly striving for perfection is one of the biggest mistakes we can make in life. You know why? Because perfection doesn’t exist. Here’s a newsflash for you – there’s no such thing as ‘perfection’. And so those who chase it, commit to a long life of unhappiness and disappointment. I believe there are a number of key reasons why we chase perfection and once we understand these it’s much easier to let it go. Let’s break it down. Are you living your life or someone else's? The the problem is, when we are too busy worrying about what others think, we ignore our own inner voice and this can land us in all sorts of trouble. When we rely on other people’s opinions to guide us in life, it’s very easy to end up feeling frustrated and anxious because we end up living someone else’s life.  Instead of worrying about being perfect, we need to spend time understan...

Self Love

Self Love "Self-love is not something that you get in one day  or two days. It's an ongoing process, and I go through it every day." There is only one thing that heals every problem and that is to know how to- love ourselves . It's amazing how people's lives get better when they tend to love themselves more each day. They feel better with their outer self. Their relationships improve. They get what they need. To me, to be uplifted is to go within ourselves and know who we are and what we really want our lives to be. We can always have better lives by loving and caring for ourselves. We have often heard that love t akes down otherwise unbreakable walls. Makes way for peace: sometimes with oneself, sometimes with others, but most often, with all the uncertainties that come with life.  To me, love is an appreciation. We should have a deep appreciation for who we are. We must accept every flaw, imperfection, the things we may not ...
